【摘要】:Thistestmethodisanondestructivemeansofdeterminingthenuclideconcentrationofasolutionforspecialnuclearmaterialaccountancy,nuclearsafety,andprocesscontrol.Itisassumedthatthenuclidetobeanalyzedisinahomogeneoussolution(PracticeC1168).Thetransmissioncorrectionmakesthetestmethodindependentofmatrix(solutionelementalcompositionanddensity)andusefuloverseveralordersofmagnitudeofnuclideconcentrations.However,atypicalconfigurationwillnormallyspanonlytwotothreeordersofmagnitudebecauseofdetectordynamicrange.Thetestmethodassumesthatthesolution-detectorgeometryisthesameforallmeasureditems.Thiscanbeaccomplishedbyrequiringthattheliquidheightinthesidelookinggeometryexceedsthedetectorfieldofviewdefinedbythecollimator.Fortheupward-lookinggeometry,afixedsolutionfillheightmustbemaintainedandvialsofidenticalradiimustbeusedunlessthevialradiusexceedsthefieldofviewdefinedbythecollimator.Sincegamma-raysystemscanbeautomated,thetestmethodcanberapid,reliable,andnotlaborintensive.Thistestmethodmaybeapplicabletoin-lineoroff-linesituations.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheconcentrationofgamma-rayemittingspecialnuclearmaterialsdissolvedinhomogeneoussolutions.Thetestmethodcorrectsforgamma-rayattenuationbythesolutionanditscontainerbymeasurementofthetransmissionofabeamofgammaraysfromanexternalsource(Refs.(1),(2),and(3)).1.2Twosolutiongeometries,slabandcylinder,areconsidered.Thesolutioncontainerthatdeterminesthegeometrymaybeeitheraremovableorafixedgeometrycontainer.Thistestmethodislimitedtosolutioncontainershavingwallsoratopandbottomofequaltransmissionthroughwhichthegammaraysfromtheexternaltransmissioncorrectionsourcemustpass.1.3Thistestmethodistypicallyappliedtoradionuclideconcentrationsrangingfromafewmilligramsperlitretoseveralhundredgramsperlitre.Theassayrangewillbeafunctionofthespecificactivityofthenuclideofinterest,thephysicalcharacteristicsofthesolutioncontainer,countingequipmentconsiderations,assaygamma-rayenergies,solutionmatrix,gamma-raybranchingratios,andinterferences.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazards,seeSection9.
