【摘要】:Thestandardsizedesignationslistedinthispracticeareprovidedsothatthedesignteam,consumer,andtheproducerhaveacommonreferenceinsizingstonematerialsusedinerosioncontrol.Thedesignteamshouldperformamaterialssurvey,andsubsequenttestingtodeterminewhichquarrysourcesmayhavesuitablein-placerockandperformsuitableblastingandprocessingprocedurestoproducetherequiredgradations.Thedesignteammustrecognizethefactthatnotallsourcesarecapableorwillingtoproducetherequiredgradations.Onlythosesourceslistedbythedesignteamshouldbeconsideredforconstructionoftheproject.Thestandardsizedesignationsprovidedinthisguidearesuitableforprotectivesurfacingandstructuresdesignedforerosioncontrol.Thesesizesarefortypicalstructuressuchasjetties,revetments,groinbaffles,bulkheads,liningfordrainage/irrigationditchesandforintakeoroutletfacilities,bridgesandstreamchannelbanks,gabions,andslopeprotectionforearthembankmentandrock-filldams.Thedesignselectionofstonesizes,durability,placement,filter/beddingmaterials,orgeotextiles,steepnessofslopesforplacement,andlayerthicknessarebeyondthescopeofthisguide.1.1Thispracticecoverssizedesignationsandmaximumrangesinmassorgradationforstandardsizesforriprap,spalls,orbedding,orboth,usedforslopeprotectionofdamembankments,streambankerosioncontrol,bridgepiersandabutments.Sizesusedforouterharborstructuressuchasbreakwalls,revetments,confineddikeddisposalstructures(heretoforedescribedasarmorstone,coverstone,ordimensionstone)forwhichstonesizesrangebetween5and25tons,orthatrequirecutdimensionsforlayed-upstructuresarebeyondthescopeofthispractice.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4Thispracticeoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Thewordx201C;Standardx201D;inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
